Those of y0u who follow me on Snapchat will have seen my trip to the Carol Joy London flagship salon at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane. I was kindly invited into the salon to experience the Carol Joy royal scalp and hair treatment followed by a signature bouncy blow dry and collagen facial spritz.
When I arrived at the Dorchester I was greeted by the immaculate concierge and front of house team before being escorted down to the Carol Joy London Salon which was situated on the lower ground floor. Hidden away from the day to day movements of the rest of the hotel, the Carol Joy London salon was beautifully laid out with a clean, modern boutique dressing room style decor which was fit for any princess (or prince) to be pampered in.
I was given the VIP treatment by Stylist Simona who explained a little bit about the benefits of the treatments I was due to have. I was fortunate enough to have the salon all to myself so loved hearing all about the Carol Joy London brand and generally chatting to Simona, before having my hair shampooed and conditioned using some of the products from the Carol Joy range.
I then had the Royal Scalp and Hair treatment which is described by Carol Joy as:
“The ultimate treatment for hair nourishment and scalp health. Our Intensive Steam Treatment using our Beautiful Hair Mask and Rejuvenating Hair Oil with Shiatsu Acupressure scalp massage is followed by the Oxygen Scalp Treatment; a refreshing sensation after the steam. The Oxygen and tonic is worked into the scalp with the fingertips to stimulate the hair follicles. The combination of treatments results in improved hair growth and condition.”
The treatment involved spraying my hair with the intensive hair mask and oil before clipping it up and placing a steaming cap over my head. The cap itself is attached to a steaming machine which then pumps steam into the cap for 15 minutes. The steam opens the hair follicles to allow an intensive moisturising treatment to take place. Cold steam is then blown for the final few minutes of the treatment which helps to close the hair follicles again, locking in moisture and shine.
After I had had the Carol Joy London Royal Scalp and Hair treatment, Simona blow dried my hair in a fabulous bouncy style before curling with tongs and finishing with extra strong hair spray.
As you can see, Simona styled my hair beautifully and I left the Carol Joy Salon looking and feeling a million dollars…
Unfortunately the curls did drop out really quickly (within a couple of hours) however I was left with a more relaxed bouncy blow dry for a couple of days. My hair is naturally quite heavy due to the length and thickness of it so I suspect that this (combined with the heat of the underground) was why it dropped so quickly. I had also recently had an Olaplaex conditioning treatment which does alter the bond structure of your hair so this could also have affected it.
The treatments I had at Carol Joy London are priced as follows:
Royal Scalp and Hair Treatment – 45 minutes – £120
Signature Blow Dry (Long Hair) – 60 minutes – £90
+ tongs – 15 minutes – £10
Bookings can be made via telephone: +44 (0) 207 3197090, email: firstname.lastname@example.org or for information on further treatments and the full product range check out the Carol Joy website.
All that remains is for me to say a huge thank you to Simona, Carlos, Emma and the rest of the Carol Joy team for having me and letting me experience the wonders of their Salon and product range. Hopefully I will be back to see you soon!
