Glossybox virgin?

… I was too, until July 2015.

So how does a girl who adores beauty products get to 28 years of age without ever having a monthly cosmetics box subscription? Sadly I cannot answer that but I can tell you that I will not be going through the next 28 years without one.

I was pretty excited for my box to arrive but I never in a million years imagined that I’d fall in love with the packaging too! I mean come on – it’s just a box right? WRONG. It’s a Parisian delight! Monochrome and chic with a little pop of red and blue to give it that french authenticity and beautifully illustrated by Jamie Lee Reardin.

Then I lifted the lid…. et voila! A red lipped pouting make up bag filled with July’s featured delights, delicately wrapped in tissue paper and elegantly finished with a white ribbon tied in a bow – Je taime indeed!

So what was in July’s box of tricks?

IMG_6031Noxidoxi enhancing serum base 25ml
I loved the fact that this product had a thin, light, silky substance which absorbed into my skin easily and did not leave that oily finish that many other serums do. It gave a soft matte finish and relieved any feeing of tightness after cleansing. Despite this being a sample sized product I imagine it will last a long time as you only need a really tiny amount of the product. I applied daily underneath my day and night cream and loved the clean natural scent.

Lollipops lip balm delicieuse
Since I absolutely adore anything pink and girlie the packaging of this product was always going to be right up my street. So cute and kitch, it definitely took me back to my 7 year old self! The smell – a cross between vanilla and sweeties. The finish – natural, glossy and most importantly not at all sticky. It left my lips feeling super soft and soothed. A definite handbag staple and steal at a price of £4.15 for a full size… I will definitely be purchasing this again when the sample runs out!

Teoxane Cosmeceuticals perfect skin refiner skin renewal cream (night)
I used this directly over the Noxidori serum and whilst it did appear thick and creamy when pumped into my hand, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it absorbed very easily. This product does give a tingling sensation when applied, but you are warned of that before using it. It contains hyaluronic and glycolic acids to help resurface the skin and reduce irritation. In honesty I did want to sit and itch my face as the sensation in comparison to my usual calming rich night cream just felt a bit odd. Plus I do have pretty sensitive skin so I did have a bit of a meltdown that I may wake up with the face of a baboon. Thankfully I woke pleasantly surprised and did notice a difference straight away. My skin had a healthy glow and it seemed to be clearer and less clogged. I am definitely going to persevere with this and see what the results are in a few weeks so watch this space…

Yves Rocher comme une evidence Eau de Parfum
I am always wary of trying new perfumes as often I think “WOW – that smells amazing!” and then when I test it on my skin it smells dreadful. I tend to opt for light floral scents so this was probably a little heavier than I would normally select, especially with it containing rose. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that after settling it smelled lovely. Very Parisian chic and in keeping with the box theme…. secretly exactly what I had hoped for!

Glossybox exclusive travel pouch
Well what can I say about this other than LOVE.

I’m a beauty monthly subscription virgin too! I’ve been toying with the idea for a while but haven’t been able to decide on which one to go for, and although I’d love to I can’t justify (at the moment anyway!) signing up for each one! Thanks for your review though, it’s making me lean towards Glossybox even more so now!

I’d definitely recommend Glossybox – the products are great. The £10 a month subscription you can cancel at any time so may be worth a try 🙂 JessicaKG x
