10 things to look forward to in 2016…

I know it’s only January so there is much yet to come, but for the first time in a few years I am excited by the concept of a new year and what 2016 may have to offer. For me 2015 was a year for laying foundations, so 2016 is all about building, developing and just going for it…

So what have I got planned?

Jo Pinx#WomeninBusiness – this series has been a huge success on my blog, with 2 of the 5 most popular posts in 2015 (Interviews with Deborah Mitchell and Ruby Chan) being from this series. I am really excited to be carrying it forwards into 2016 and helping put more business women on the map.

If anyone is interested in being featured or has someone to recommend, as always please do get in touch.

IMG_5505Going to Paris for my birthday – Literally so so excited about this! For about 10 years I have been raving about going to Paris for my birthday and this year I am ACTUALLY going (thanks and huge brownie points to my lovely man). So cue copious amounts of coffee and croissants for breakfast, crepes for lunch and red wine and mussels for tea…. Coupled with the Parisian style and culture, I will quite literally be in heaven.

IMG_2077@LDNMeetup Blogger events – If there’s a girl who knows how to do blogger events it’s Lauren of Blonde Vision. The #bigbloggerconference was one of my favourite events of 2015 (if you haven’t seen my review you can do here) so I am very much looking forward to attending more of Lauren’s events in 2016 – including:
*  a blogger networking event at the Ice Bar – #BloggersBelowZero
*  a blogger holiday at Centre Parcs  – #BloggersInvadeCentreParcs
* the Blognix Retreat which is a weekend filled with workshops on how to improve your blog and wellbeing – #BlognixRetreat

If you are attending any of the above be sure to comment below or tweet me so I can keep an eye out for you at the events!

Working for BeauBronz – I recently trained with spray tan artist to the stars andIMG_0748 founder of tanning brand BeauBronz; Abi Oleck. If you haven’t read my interview with Abi or my review of the BeauBronz range then please do check both out. As an avid self tan wearer I can hand on heart say that I 100% believe in the BeauBronz  brand, hence why I am looking forward to working with Abi in 2016 to further promote BeauBronz and develop my own client base as a spray tan artist.

If you are based in the Hull area and would like to model for me in the meantime please do get in touch….

IMG_0991Being healthier and happier – I personally find it so hard to look after myself as I work in a fairly high pressure job where lunch hours are few and on a lucky day very short and anything but sweet. Coupled with an hour and a half’s commute morning and night you can imagine what happens to a decent breakfast and tea (yep – non existent!) I find that everything I eat is rushed and on the go, so in 2016 I am determined to;
a) eat healthily and
b) exercise more.

IMG_1008Saving for the dream! – We are desperate to move into a bigger house so are trying to save as much money as we can in 2016 so that we can buy our dream home. At the moment we have a little pot, but hopefully in 2016 it grow a little more so that in 2017 it may become a reality.

FullSizeRender2Developing my blog/ brand – As I only started blogging in May 2015 I have spent the last 7 months pretty much “finding my feet” so I am definitely looking forward to growing and developing more so that by the end of 2016 I have an established blog structure and identifiable style… For me growing is not a matter of numbers, its about me finding my fit and loving every minute along the way!

IMG_0159Learning a language – One of my biggest academic regrets is not learning a language beyond GCSE level. As an adult I appreciate just how important it is to be able to speak another language and just how many doors of opportunity it can open for you. In 2016 I am determined to learn a new language so that when I go to other countries I am not just another one of those ignorant English people.

IMG_5920Reading more – As a child I loved nothing more than sitting with a brand new book and having that feeling of not being able to put it down. More often than not when I pick up a book now I never get to the end of it, or if I do it takes me months to do so. Admittedly, the only time I ever seem to read now is when I am on holiday – which is what? A measly 5 weeks of the year! For Christmas I was bought some wonderful books (Karren Brady – Strong Woman, Drew Barrymore – Wildflower, Lisa Eldridge – Face Paint and Jolene Hart – Eat Pretty) so I am determined to get them read – front to back!

IMG_6305Making more memories – I have vowed to travel more, to see new places, to meet new people and to continue to try new things, to take more photographs, to write more blog posts and just generally spend more time enjoying life! I have come to realise that I work far too hard for someone else and it’s about time I worked hard on enjoying myself too….
*Cheese alert*

What are you looking forward to in 2016?

    This was such a lovely post to read. Being healthier and getting into shape is one of the things I’m hoping to do all year – so far, so good. If you ever want a book recommendation, give me a shout as I read an awful lot.
