At the time of writing this post my partner Cody and I had just got back from a fabulous weekend of pampering at the House Beauty Spa in Childwall, Liverpool; a spa which I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who lives in or is visiting Liverpool anytime soon…
As the title might suggest, the House Beauty Spa is found within the grounds of a beautifully converted detached house on Childwall Park Avenue, Childwall. It is the second Spa to be opened by Georgia Forrest, the first having been a huge success since opening a number of years ago on Maher Avenue, Allerton. It came as no surprise to me after visiting the House Beauty Spa and experiencing the first class pampering service for myself that it has secured various awards to date, including the Guinot Crown award for 5 years in a row!
One thing that immediately struck me about the House Beauty Spa was how much thought had gone into the whole customer experience from start to finish and how this was faultlessly executed by Georgia and her team. We attended the House at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon which was presumably one of the House’s busiest times, however we were made feel like we were the only guests there. We were warmly greeted by the lady on the reception desk before being shown through to the stunning orangery to complete our consultation cards. We completed an individual card for each treatment detailing our pressure preferences, allergies and any relevant medical conditions before being taken upstairs to our duo treatment room and introduced to our therapists; Amy and Amanda.
So what treatments did we have?
Hot Lava Shell Relax Full Body Massage
(Priced at £65)
I was first introduced to Lava Shells at the beauty blogger awards 2015 where I had a quick 10 minute taster session and since then I have been dying to try one of their full massage treatments. For those of you who haven’t heard of a Lava Shell massage before, the concept is very similar to that of a hot stone massage however the treatment is delivered using hot Tiger Clam shells from the Philippines. The shells are held in the hands of the treating therapist and used with beautifully scented oils to provide a relaxing massage experience. Starting with the feet, working up the legs, into the lower back and finally the shoulders, it is a holistic full body experience that will leave you incredibly relaxed and refreshed.
I have had hot stone massages in the past and definitely think that lava shells top them by far. Somehow they just seem more soothing and relaxing, but this could be personal preference or Amy’s delivery of the treatment! It can’t just be me though since Cody fell asleep next to me half way through his… 😉
Next up was a…
Heaven Skincare by Deborah Mitchell Bee Sting Facial
(Priced at £65)
As a huge Heaven Skincare fan I was really looking forward to finally experiencing one of their signature facials. Obviously if like Cody you have an allergy to bees then this is not the treatment for you (he opted for one of the House’s Elemis ones instead), but if – like me- you are not allergic to bees and are looking for a rejuvenating anti ageing treatment that is slightly different to your usual facial then this treatment is definitely for you!
Regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of Heaven’s Bee Peel face mask so admittedly I was already aware that the tinging sensation you experience during the treatment is perfectly normal, however Amy gave me a full explanation prior to commencing my treatment, so if I hadn’t used Heaven products before then I wouldn’t have been alarmed and thinking that I was suffering an adverse reaction.
The facial itself can only be described as ultimate luxury so it is not difficult to see why it is so popular amongst celebrities and beauty fanatics. It is described as a treatment designed to boost the skin’s collagen and elastin levels, leaving you with pumped, youthful skin. I certainly wasn’t disappointed as my skin immediately looked more radiant and glowing and remained so for days afterwards. With any other facials I have had, my skin has looked great immediately afterwards but then in the days after I haven’t really noticed any benefit, but after Amy delivered my Bee Sting Facial I can wholeheartedly say that my skin looked fabulous for weeks!
Margaret Dabbs Spa Pedicure
(Priced at £35)
After getting dressed and coming back to our senses a little, we finished off the day with a Margaret Dabbs spa pedicure with a glass of fizz in the dual pedicure room downstairs which was the perfect end to a perfect afternoon of pampering. The spa pedicure started with a foot soak and exfoliation, then nail shaping and cuticle work before finishing with a foot and leg massage and choice of polish. Seated in large massage chairs with our feet soaked in the bubbling foot baths filled with aromatherapy oils there is no wonder that Cody fell asleep again (I am surprised he remembered any of the day!). Fortunately I was on hand to look after his glass of fizz for him… snooze you lose eh?
Well as said when I started off this post, I would recommend the House Beauty Spa to anyone without hesitation so if you live in Liverpool or are heading there anytime soon I would definitely recommend a visit. You can book treatments by calling 0151 722 4999 for the Childwall House Beauty Spa or 0151 724 4999 for the Mather Avenue House Beauty Spa. For full details of the treatments available and prices please check out the House Beauty Spa website.
All that remains is for me to say a huge thank you to Georgia for inviting us to experience the House Beauty Spa and to Amy and Amanda for looking after us so well!
