I first tried Manuka Doctor’s ApiClear Skin Treatment Serum after receiving a sachet in a blogger goodie bag and fell in love with it so much I tweeted saying how sad I would be to finish it. I was then approached by the lovely people at Manuka Doctor and asked whether I would like to trial a full sized bottle of their serum together with their ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel. Needless to say I replied immediately accepting Manuka Doctor’s offer and against my normal review policy (i.e. to photograph the product prior to trialling) I immediately opened the products upon receipt and set to work!
Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel 100 ml
My skin has been so clogged and temperamental this year so I have been desperate to find a product that would clear it. This Facial Peel contains purified bee venom, manuka honey, fruit extracts and botanicals and is designed to lift dead skin, stimulate cell renewal and purify pores. It helps clear blackheads and leaves skin feeling hydrated and clear.
It is a setting peel mask which is a thick white creamy clay-like texture when applied. It smells divine – really clean and fresh. After applying all over your face (avoiding the eye area) it then tightens and dries so that after 15 minutes you can peel it off.
Being completely honest, the application and removal process of this peel is not the most enjoyable experience. If you are going to try this product for the first time after reading his review I would recommend doing so on a day where you’re not in a rush anywhere and when you have the time to get used to the application and removal process.
I personally recommended this product to my Mum who was suffering from dry and tired looking skin (partly due to medication) and stressed the same things to her when I passed her the tube as when applying the mask it does feel a bit like you’re rubbing Tippex all over your face and when removing it can be quite difficult to get it all off simply by peeling. It doesn’t always come off in one swift movement and can leave a number of little bits on your face (a bit like when you remove a sticker from the bottom of your new shoes).
The results do however far outweigh the pain of the application and removal process.
I can tell a difference immediately after using this mask and every time I use it I am genuinely amazed by the difference it makes to my skin. It seems to lift away any dullness or clogging, always leaving healthier looking, soft and glowing skin. I now use this mask once a week as part of my normal skincare regime and really would not be without it. I honestly would not hesitate to recommend it despite the frustrations I have when physically using the product.
It retails at £29.99 and lasts forever. I have had the tube I am using now since February and it is only just running out, so definite value for money!
Manuka Doctor ApiClear Skin Treatment Serum 30ml
It is only in the past couple of years I have started using serums as part of my daily skincare regime, but what a difference they really do make when you use the correct ones for your skin type. They should be applied after cleansing and toning but before moisturising and never instead of a moisturiser. Many people make the mistake of thinking they should be used as an alternative to moisturiser – they shouldn’t. The two are entirely different products and designed to do very different things. Serums are designed to penetrate to the lower layers of your skin, treating it on a much deeper level whereas moisturisers penetrate and treat the top layers.
This particular serum is designed to treat problem and blemish prone skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and scars and gently moisturise. It contains purified bee venom, manuka honey and royal jelly which hydrate the skin whilst calming and clearing blemishes.
I have been using this serum morning and night after cleansing and toning and before moisturiser and again have been really impressed with the results. It comes in a pump dispenser and is a clear gel-like substance which has no real fragrance as such. It is perfect for applying before a thick and rich moisturiser as it absorbs really easily and doesn’t leave an oily residue on the surface of the skin. Also one pump goes a really long way so the product lasts months.
I know many people are wary of using bee venom skincare products but you really shouldn’t be. I wouldn’t be without either of these Manuka Doctor products now and am pleased to say that they have formed part of my essential everyday skincare regime.
