Magic Organic Apothecary (or MOA) is a UK based skincare brand that specialises in organic and natural products, including this MOA Aphrodite Facial Oil which is designed to leave you with the skin of the goddess of beauty herself! Packed with antioxidants, Vitamins A and C and fatty acids it aims to enhances radiance and youthfulness, smooth fine lines and prevent the signs of premature ageing.
As I get closer to the big 3-0 I have become increasingly conscious of combatting fine lines and reducing the speed of the ageing process so happily accepted the opportunity to give this MOA aphrodite facial oil a go – who wouldn’t want to have the skin of a goddess?
When the oil landed on my mat the first thing that struck me was just how pretty the packaging was. Named after the goddess of beauty it seemed apt that the product was beautifully packaged, reflecting the quality of the product inside.
The oil contains marshmallow extract, yarrow, rosehip, rose germanium and damask rose oil so has a lovely soft floral fragrance and the perfect balance of ingredients for combatting a numerous skin ailments. Marshmallow extract soothes and calms the skin whilst yarrow evens skin tone. Damask rose oil is perfect for reducing redness and blemishes and rosehip oil is packed with vitamins A and C which help to nourish the skin and leave it looking more youthful.
The oil is quite thick in consistency so you do really only need a few drops. It comes bottled with a pipette dispenser which not only enables you to control how much of the oil you use, but also helps to ensure that your oil stays contamination and bacteria free prior to future applications.
I used the oil morning and night after cleansing and toning and prior to moisturising over a period of 6 months (I received the product in January and it only ran out last month). Whilst I don’t think that it necessarily helped smooth out or reduce my fine lines, it did leave my skin looking glowing and generally more radiant.
I personally have quite oily but sensitive skin, which can make it quite problematic finding suitable skincare products. It is worth pointing out at this point that there is a huge misconception amongst oily skin sufferers that you cannot use facial oils because your skin is oily. This is absolutely not true. Skin is often oily because it is dehydrated and therefore producing more oil to try and combat the dehydration. Often the best thing you can do as an oily skincare sufferer is use oils and moisturisers to nourish, rehydrate and rebalance the skin.
There is obviously a period of time over which your skin needs to rebalance and gets used to using a new product so if y0u are giving this oil a go for the first time please do bear that in mind. I always give skincare products at least 6 weeks before I make any real decisions on their effectiveness, because a couple of days application is just not enough to give a rounded view and certainly doesn’t help you guys as my readers when considering whether to try a new product.
Overall I really enjoyed using this MOA Aphrodite facial oil and despite not usually being a fan of natural and organic skincare (I don’t normally find they are that effective) I would use this product again. At £20 for 30ml (which lasted me 6 months) it represents excellent value for money.
Have you revealed your inner goddess yet?
