As an (almost) life long lash addict I have become a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to false eyelashes. I’ve got to know exactly what styles of strip lash suit my eye shape and can tell in just one glance how difficult a particular style is going to be to apply or just how comfortable (or not as the case may be) it is going to be once applied. Over the years I have experimented with having individual eyelashes applied but I have found it extremely difficult to find someone I can trust to apply a beautiful set and more importantly one that is not too heavy, too thick, too long, too short, too over zealous with the glue…. you get my drift. Eyelash extensions have however come a very longgggg way since I first started experimenting with them in my teens and you’d have been on a desert island for the past couple of years to not to have heard Nouveau Extend, the answer to every girls eyelash prayers.
I’ve heard so many amazing things about the Nouveau extend individual eyelash extension treatment, so when my hair stylist Michael opened his new salon and decided to have a Nouveau trained beauty therapist on board I knew that it was time for me to give them a go. But what made me go for Nouveau Extend? How long did they last? And would I recommend? Here’s everything you need to know…
If you’re looking for fuller thicker lashes or just some added volume then the Nouveau Extend individual eyelashes are for you. Unlike other eyelash extensions they are applied one on one to your own eyelashes and come in lots of different lengths, curl variations and thicknesses so they can be perfectly tailored to your individual eye shape and preferences.
Latex free glue is used to apply them resulting in minimal damage to your own eyelashes, even if you decide to just have them as a one off for a special occasion and don’t want to have them infilled.
How long does the Nouveau Extend treatment take?
It takes between 90-120 minutes to apply a full set of Nouveau Extend eyelash extensions, depending upon how dense your own eyelashes are. Obviously the more lashes you have, the more extensions will need to be applied! Obviously infills don’t take quite as long, but I’d allow around 60 minutes.
WARNING: Don’t be surprised if you almost fall asleep whilst you are having your extensions applied. I did. Lets face it – what other time do you get to spend 90-120 minutes laid flat relaxing with your eyes closed?
How long do they last?
Nouveau Extend individual eyelash extensions should last up to 8 weeks, with optional infills every 2-3 weeks.
Sadly the set I had applied lasted 10 days, but I messaged my therapist Lisa-Marie who reassured me that this was not normal and that they should last much longer.
How much do they cost?
At the time of writing this post I have not yet booked in for a second set applying as the main downside is that they are a little on the pricey side. I paid £49 for them to be applied initially, which for 10 days worth of wear is £4.90 a day.
After 3 weeks you usually need an infill which costs from £22. So the treatment effectively costs £71 for 6 weeks worth of lashes, which equates to a cost of £11.83 a week. Presupposing you have them infilled every 2-3 weeks that’s an average cost of £380- £572 per year or £32 – £48 per month. Compared to my usual 3 for 2 eyelashes at £12 per month, that’s a triple cost and not something I could justify all of the time, but would have as a treat before a holiday or special occasion.
(*Apologies for turning all money expert on you there…*)
Despite the price tag Nouveau Extend are every girls inner laziness dream…
You can wake up without having half a strip lash hanging off your (or your dates) face.
You don’t have to curl your eyelashes or apply mascara.
You don’t have to worry about having smudges under your eyes and touching up your eye make up throughout the day.
You take FAR less time to get ready in a morning and most importantly….
They look just like your own eyelashes.
It is not advised to steam your face, swim or use hot water on your face for 48 hours after having the lashes applied. Nor should you use waterproof mascara or any oil based make up or eye make up remover. I’d recommend avoiding using any mascara altogether, although Nouveau have created their own mascara especially for use on their Extend lashes which you can check out here.
It goes without saying that you should try and avoid rubbing or trying to manipulate your lashes (either by hand or with an eyelash curler) and that you should take care when cleansing, applying make up and sleeping.
I loved the overall look of the Nouveau Extend eyelashes and just how easy they made getting ready in amorning. I commute an hour each way to work each day, so being able to fall out of bed half ready each morning was an absolute godsend. The downside for me was however the price vs how long they lasted, which to me just was not cost effective. I am however keen to give them another try and will definitely be having some applied before my trip to Las Vegas in August.
If you have had N0uveau Extensions applied I’d love to know how long they lasted for you. If you have these done regularly or have a particular salon you’d recommend please comment below with their details…
