The Big Blogger Conference

I may not be a fellow Londoner but when I saw the girls from @LdnMeetUp organising the #bigbloggerconference I wanted to be involved. My ticket for the conference cost me £17.50 so together with the train fare of £103.30 it wasn’t exactly a cheap day out for me, but I can safely say it was worth every penny. There is no wonder it was trending on Twitter by 07:30am (i.e. before it had even begun!)

Included within the ticket price was access to an exclusive mobile app that the girls had had designed specifically so that the brands and bloggers attending could engage and chat with one another before the conference.

Despite this being my first blogging event not once did I feel nervous about attending as the girls made me feel completely at ease and had planned every aspect of the day to make sure it ran smoothly. They were there to greet on arrival and on hand throughout the day to ensure that everyone was engaged and enjoying the event.

The conference was held at the majestic Hotel Russell in London’s Russell’s Square which was literally a 10 second walk from the Russell Square tube station and in spitting distance of a lovely park to sit and have lunch.  It was a beautiful venue to hold the event and definitely made it feel extra special.

Upon arrival I made a beeline for the ladies having travelled the 3 hours down via train and not wishing to using train/ station toilets.  I then got chatting to a group of other bloggers whilst at the sinks – I mean where else do us girls meet and chat? Once introductions were done we then made our way down to the suites downstairs where presentations were made by Sarah of The Prosecco Diaries, Elizabeth of Rosalilium and Jasmin Charlotte.

Sarah’s presentation covered how to work effectively with brands and most importantly the “do’s and dont’s” of the blogging world. As a fairly new blogger I found Sarah’s presentation incredibly informative and definitely took a lot away from it. I felt confident approaching brands after Sarah’s presentation and had a bit more direction in terms of how I was looking to develop my blog over the coming months, so stay tuned for great things (she says!).

Next up was a presentation from Rosalilium aka. the Pinterest guru! I have had Pinterest for quite a while now and love just generally pinning things I like, however I never really understood what it was all about and how to get the most out of Pinterest. I have recently seen loads of bloggers saying how fantastic Pinterest has been for their blogs and after Rosalilium’s presentation I can now see why. I literally went home and spent Sunday having a full Pinterest overhaul so hopefully I have got it nailed now, but I’ll let you guys decide….

And last but not least was Jasmin Charlotte‘s presentation on SEO. This was by far the most informative 20 minutes I have ever spent considering SEO. I have spent a good few hours trying to get my head around it by reading different posts and guidance material but the penny has just simply never dropped. Since Jasmin’s presentation I have made a few technical changes to my blog and am currently working on the remainder so hopefully in a few months I will be SEO fluent!

IMG_2077In the afternoon there was a brand exhibition featuring some fantastic products and truly generous brands, including House of Fraser, My Protein, Shoeaholics,, SASS, Suti Skincare, Bee Good, COMB, The Parlour, BeauBronz, F22 photography, The Gifting Lounge, No Bump Bobble, Heaven Skincare, Look Fantastic and many more (sorry if I’ve missed you!)

Later there was a raffle to raise money for Scoliosis UK, a charity very close to the organisers hearts with some fantastic prizes up from grabs.

I have to say that I was truly amazed by the work that had been put in to make the day so fantastic. The general feedback I got from other bloggers was that this was one of the best events they had ever been to, so if @LDNMeetUp do run a #bigbloggerconference again I would not hesitate to go and recommend it to other bloggers. I really cannot wait to see the official video and photographs from the day!

On a final note, this blog post would not be complete without me saying that I was fortunate to spend the day with two fantastic fellow bloggers – Ellora of and Alice of I had such a wonderful day and part of that was down to spending it with these girls!

The only down side for me was that I had to dash off promptly once it had finished for my train back, next time I will be sure to book a hotel.

Stay tuned for individual reviews of generous freebies the exhibitors handed out on the day….
